Our smallholding story
We are Jim and Lou, raising our three kids on a smallholding nestled on the edge of the Preseli’s. After Jim had a life changing car crash in 2018 we knew we wanted a slower and more meaningful way of living. That choice brought us here, where every day is a mix of hard work, muddy boots, laughter, and lessons from the land.
Our smallholding is full of life. We keep poultry, raise pigs, tend bees, and grow fruit and vegetables. More recently we have filled our fields with flowers, bringing colour to the smallholding and joy to the people who receive them. The flowers became Lou’s passion and together we now grow seasonal bouquets, supply local businesses, and offer wholesale stems for florists and weddings. Everything is grown with the seasons, freshly cut, and never flown.
Family is at the heart of Fields and Flocks. Our children are growing up close to nature, learning where food comes from, and helping with animals and flowers in their own small ways. What we do here is not polished or perfect. It is the real life of a Welsh smallholding, warts and all, and that honesty is important to us.
We share our journey openly on YouTube and TikTok so you can see behind the scenes. From planting seeds to harvesting blooms, from caring for animals to tackling the everyday chaos, you can follow along and even watch your flowers grow.
Choosing Fields and Flocks means supporting a small family, but it also means becoming part of our story. Every bunch of flowers, every tray of eggs, and every video shared is rooted in the same thing: a love of the land, a commitment to sustainability, and a belief that simple living can be full of beauty.
